when I cannot decide which project to work on. Few weeks back , before I started stitching on my WIPs, I wanted to break a crafting block with some easy-peasy project . I like making doilies :)
After going through few of the saved patterns, I chose two to make . Here is the one which looked good while blocking but then it did not lay flat once dried. I also planned to give this as a gift which is now pending for over a month but I wasn't satisfied with it so I need to make another. The second doily looks good but that also cannot be given as gift for reasons I will tell on my next post when I am ready with its pictures .
This is a free pattern named, 'Fan Doilies' and can be found here . It measures 16 inches wide and is made with Anchor mercerized crochet cotton size #20 and hook size 1.5 mm.
I got stuck at the starting itself and tried many times. How can one make 16 3-dtr clusters in a ch-8 ring? Even though those are clusters, you need to insert into the ring 48 times . Anyways, I did it my way and ended up with a slight frilly border. If any one of you try this ( refer large doliy instruction), I would be interested to know how you did it .
Thank you for always visiting me and taking time to comment :)
Have a great week ahead!
Preeti:)

Preeti:)
It looks lovely even if it has a frilly border!
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely even if it has a frilly border!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Preeti I think you have made a good job of it, I always find that my tension is never good enough for projects as delicate as this the whole doily would be frilly if I had made it. :) xx
ReplyDeleteI'm completely lost with your crochet talk but at least can admire the result! Your doily is very detailed and pretty. It must have been fiddly to make. You have my admiration. :)
ReplyDeleteA lovely doily, I don't see anithing wrong on it.
ReplyDeleteLooks really pretty & colourful, well done.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I have no idea how to help you out. Definitely a craft I've never tried.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week !
Anna
Wow it's so beautiful..
ReplyDeleteBig hugs x
It's lovely, the border looks fine to me
ReplyDeleteI love it! The colours you picked make it so elegant indeed!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful doily Preeti. It's been so long I have crocheted doilies. I feel like crocheting one.
ReplyDeleteI think the doily looks great Preeti. I love the colors.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Beautiful! I can't see anything wrong with it and I'd be pleased to receive it in an exchange. Your colour choices are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour doily looks very pretty. I know nothing about crochet through, I just like what I see!
ReplyDeleteIt is sooo nice!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful doily. I think it still would've made a lovely gift. Can't wait to see your second doily. You know I'm in love with doilies.
ReplyDeleteMy mom is visiting me now, and I told here a few days ago how nice it would be to pull out one of my doilies, make tiny sandwiches, take out my fine china tea cups and have a little tea party. And now, looking at your lovely doily I was once again reminded of doing it.
Have a wonderful week.
Your doilies look very pretty to me! I love that pink and green together.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty
ReplyDeleteMy favorite color combination! ♥ Really beautiful. Maybe the mistake cannot be found because it's just the way this pattern is and the author didn't noticed that because she crocheted with another tension. So don't worry, Preeti! Just like the others have already said, in my view the doily is pretty and perfect, too :-). Have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteYour work is so pretty, Preeti! (And I just love the words you have under your blog title--you have definitely earned your "creative time!!"
ReplyDeleteI think it looks lovely and great colour choices!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely, what a great way to get your crafting bug back :)
ReplyDeleteYour doily is lovely, Preeti. :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty doily :)
ReplyDeleteYay, doilies! The best thing about crochet haha. Yours looks lovely even with all that pink. ;)
ReplyDeleteJust from eyeballing the pattern my only guess is the size of the thread makes a big difference in this instance...? But still, 48 times is quite a lot to stuff in such a tiny chain, even if you went to #30. When you were playing around, did you try to make a longer starting chain? Maybe ch 10 would've been enough to get them in. I dunno, I'm still a doily newb! \:D/
It's lovely. So this is what indecision brings, nice!
ReplyDeletedoily looks pretty in the pic Preeti..i have not tried that pattern but..yeah like you said..if we cannot decide what to do next, a doily project is a life saver..:)
ReplyDeleteNeatly worked
ReplyDeleteDont worry, through my eyes it looks really pretty....even as a gift!
ReplyDeleteBut i know what you mean, i can be really critical too when it comes down to my own crafts:-)
Such a pretty doily! I love your choice of colors.

I have no idea about how much work it takes to make such a piece! But it sure looks beautiful :D Well done!
ReplyDeleteYou have chosen lovely colours for the doily which seems very intricate. The frilly bit might be as the pattern calls for size 30 thread. And then, there are some doilies that just refuse to stay flat :) I am working on the Viola mandala at present.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
I don't even undertand what you have been doing on it... lol!!!
ReplyDeleteBut you did it.. very lovely!!
It only doesn't look easy peasy..
It looks like a lot of work!!!
Beautiful doily.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I missed your last few posts! I so admire your ability to create doilies, Preeti! My mom made some beautiful ones, but so far I have just managed a few small projects like hearts. Your latest doily is lovely, and as always I appreciate your use of color! xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Preeti your doily has been featured. :) xx
