Hello all !! Hope you had a nice weekend. A warm welcome to my both new and old friends :) I have tried reaching all the new friends but somehow I could not reach few of you through your profiles . If you think I haven’t visited you back , then leave a comment mentioning your blog name . I will be happy to visit you back.
I made this pencil pouch couple of months back but just could not put the pieces together for some or the other reasons . It was a bit frustrating but finally completed . Anshita is very happy but I feel I could have done better.
I made it with Anchor knitting cotton and hook size 2 .75 mm . Both the parts , front and back , were made separately . I lined it with a soft cotton fabric but it gets wrinkled from inside .
Design is just simple with rows of HDCs in three colors . I used eyelash yarn to give that Diva effect for a teenager pouch. One row is of puff stitch and stitch pattern for one of the rows (dotted lines) is from here. This stitch calls for 2 different sizes of thread but I was already using thinner yarn so I used both same size yarn. Back side is just simple as well. For lining and adding zipper, I referred a tutorial from here.
I guess the overall pouch looks good for a teenager, Anshita is not a teenager yet but still enjoys flashy items :) She doesn’t like pink but having base color as purple, she okayed it . I will try for perfection next time .
What do you say?
Have a crafty week!

Back side
Now the frustrating part . I crocheted a bit loose with eyelash yarn therefore the front part expanded a bit compared to the back. I broke the needle of my sewing machine while adding a zip :( I concluded that I have more control on my hand than sewing machine . What do you say?
Have a crafty week!

Hello Preeti
ReplyDeleteI don't think I ever get any of my makes just perfect. I've convinced myself that a little flaw now and again is leaving my trademark and also saying its handmade.
I really don't know how to machine sew a zip on anything yet so I think you've done more than well.
IMO it looks very snazzy and neat just what girls now like.
keep well
Amanda :-)
wow...that is a lovely little pouch perfect as a pencil/pen pouch...
ReplyDeletewow so pretty..very sweet pouch.
ReplyDeletebig hugs x
Don't be so hard on yourself Preeti - I think the pencil pouch looks nice. As long as Anshita likes it, that's all that counts. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a very pretty pencil pounch, nice colours!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a wonderful job on the pouch. I too am a perfectionist when it comes to my creation until I realized nobody else sees the mistakes but the maker...even seasoned crocheters. Which blows my mind as some of them were my mentors. Don't get me wrong I still tear out my mistakes and fix them, but sometimes the ones I keep for myself..there may be a mistake or a missed stitch somewhere. I just love your color choices on the things you make..blessings always
ReplyDeleteGreat work :D
ReplyDeleteI think your pencil pouch turned out great Preeti.
ReplyDeleteLinda
Cute pencil pouch! Love the eyelash yarn...gives it a nice, girly touch. :)
ReplyDeleteOh those sewing machine needles! Don't even care about, I always break the needle, because never know how thick/thin should I use. Currently I run out of needles, I just have three last pieces from a set...
ReplyDeleteYour pencil case is adorable! Happy like all of your projects :)
Beautiful !!!! Your gaughter must be soooo happy !

I think it looks great. The colours are lovely! I sympathise with you breaking the needle too, I have done that so many times and it is so frustrating when it happens xx

Super nice!! Great colors and execution, and the fluffy row is the icing on the cake :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's so lovely! I remember having a similar pencil pouch when I was a little girl. My mom made it for me. Things made by moms are the best!
ReplyDeleteTo try new thing is a must in a crafty world , isn't it? I always wanted to try to line my crochet things, thanks for encouraging me to do so!
ReplyDeleteThe pouch looks pretty still, even you find imperfections, I bet Anshita still loves it as It was by her lovely Mum. Eye lash yarn is a tricky one, and I myself still didn't figure out what kind of projects will be good for it.
