A teeny-weeny square!

Just thought of posting a little square I made yesterday and weaved-in too (this is important as most of my items are struggling to get finishing touches :) ) I made it with Anchor red heart crochet cotton, size 20 and the pattern for this is here. This square measures 2 inches . I have crocheted many items but there is no time for photos and posts .

There are some bloggers who are very organized and have some kind of schedule for posting, so I thought I must try to make mine a bit systematic too. And, I have come up with this plan for every week.

Monday – Post about my creation(s)

Wednesday – ‘Just something on Wednesday’
This post will be about something creative, funny or interesting from the world of crafts/needlework.

Friday – ‘Meri Kitaab’- The Book Review
My reviews on the needlework and other craft books that I own.  Meri Kitaab is a term in Hindi language which means - ‘my book’:)

I am going to deploy this plan from next week. And of course, I can repeat as many Mondays in a week :) :)

What do you say about this plan and about my teeny-weeny square? Do suggest me a creative title for Wednesday’s post.

Few things to share this New Year ! :)

Hello my dear friends!!

After seeing everyone posting about their recaps I was craving to write my post. Well, not about recap but in general.

I am done with few crochet items but not yet ready with pictures. I just took image of this crochet square motif which I made with local silk thread. The pattern is from a table runner and can be found here. I haven't yet decided how many squares I am going to make.

My mom is visiting me today for the month of January :) so not sure how frequently I will post on my blog. There are lots of things to talk about with her :)

Crochet Squares on fire !

Recently I have become a crochet square crazy. I wanted to make a blanket for my daughter who said yes but denied to use it as we rarely need blankets in Hyderabad even in winters. I somehow emotionally blackmailed my husband to share a colourful blanket which he was almost ready but later suceeded in convincing me that no one is going to look your masterpiece if it is lying around in bedroom. So I gave up the idea and concentrated on making cushion covers with those squares.

I am suppose to make 9 squares for each cushion, that amounts to 45squares  for 5 of them. I work with sport weight yarn.

I made the above spiral square taking reference from one of the patterns provided in a free ebook at
http://www.crochetme.com/content/Free-eBooks.aspx. You have to work 3 rows together alternating one by one.

Earlier I knew only a little of crochet stitches. I made the other squares from the book '50 fabulous crochet squares' by Leisure arts.

A standard granny square which was quite easy so I decided to use this as an alternating square in my cushion cover.

 

 

 

 

Assembling .... I wanted a thick strip to join them and did not want to create borders on all squares. That could have been extra work . I devised a new way.

 

 

 

A clean joining finally. I will share the technique I used in joining these squares in my next post.  If possible, pattern too.

 

All the photos for my blog are taken by my nine-year-old daughter. I am the worst photographer in my family. The chocolates that were deliberately spilled out of the box, never went inside :)
