Crochet Pancakes !! ;)

In between stitching , I managed to make some crochet pancakes for you all :)

Crochet Coasters

These are my first crochet coasters . Not that I haven't made such things before but they were used as motifs earlier and otherwise for something decorative . These will actually be used as coasters now .

Crochet Coasters

I usually don't like the idea of putting cups on it and making it sticky over a period of time but I should not be all that mean with my creations :)

I made three for three of us . The motif (#32) can be found in the book , ' Beyond the square crochet motifs , ' by Edie Eckman .

I made these with Anchor knitting cotton and  3 mm hook . They are not blocked and I guess I am not going to waste my energy on that either .

I am making this crochet jacket for Anshita with an acrylic yarn , Nako Saten . It is extremely soft and it splits too . While it was fun to touch the balls (yarn balls , I mean ;)) , it is not so when crocheting . I am not sure if she would wear because we don't have as such winters here unless we go out early morning or late night . Her favorite color is blue .

Right now we are going through peak summer time with temperatures hitting 44 C in the afternoon . We have locked ourselves at home in ACs . And I am hating cooking in such conditions . Although I have an AC in kitchen as well but I don't use it when I am using the gas stove for cooking . And most of the time I do cook that way . I feel I am standing in a furnace .

I am stitching only few projects right now . I missed working on my  kitty litter project this month so next month I will dedicate two weeks for it .

Have a nice day!
Preeti

  2. Crocheted pancakes are lovely. I love to crochet wearable but because of the climate here I avoid it. I too feel that I am standing inside oven while cooking. Now I try to complete cooking before 11. Crochet wearable is nice.

  5. We have the same heat here. The afternoons are harsh. I walked every night last week at sunset and it was nice but haven't walked at all this week. Tomorrow is supposed to be the hottest day yet reaching 115 F. I just finally blogged about my crochet activities. My hook has been going at lightning speed. Ha! I say use what you make, don't hide things away. And if you don't want it, give it away. Someone else will appreciate it. I never block anything. I can see some things that might need it, but definitely not a blanket. Never understood why people do that. The crochet jacket is a pretty color and definitely looks like summer wear to me with a t-shirt. Surely she can get some use out of it. I've just made lunch. The a/c is blaring! Have a good evening. 6. Love your crochet pancakes and the beautiful jacket, such a pretty colour.

p.s. please send excess sun to Gijon Spain where we need a bit more heat- not even 20º yet .-( and still wearing jackets.

  9. Lovely projects Preeti, I use my crochet coasters all the time, you can easily wash them if they get sticky, The little jacket is going to be very pretty. I wouldn't be able to stand such heat especially in the kitchen, I think I would be eating salads throughout the Summer if it was me,it's still so cold here I'm still wearing my winter clothes. :) xx

  10. I don't know how you cope with that heat! I'm in the UK and have had winter boots on today.
Your crochet coasters are beautiful and should definitely be used. I think Anshita's cardigan would look lovely over a t shirt on a cool evening.

  13. Lovely bright coasters and great start on the jacket. It's not a dense pattern, so I hope she gets some use out of it. It's beautiful!

  16. I think the idea of using your crochet pieces is a very good one, Preeti. Your work is beautiful and should be enjoyed!
I wouldn't want to cook I those temperatures either!

  17. Preeti: I use my Grandmothers crochet doilies for coasters all the time for coasters, she would have wanted me to do just so.
Yours are lovely, you can always make more.
Love Anshita's color choice the blue is so beautiful.
    Stay cool.

    Blessings

  19. Yuck, I agree with cooking in the summer heat; it gets that here too but not for a few more months. Crock pots become my best friend so I don't have to stand over the stove!

Like the little crochet pancakes. I like useful things like that and the wearable stuff! I am not at that level yet though. :D

  21. Beautiful coasters.. The crochet jacket looks so lovelyl and the color is just perfect. It's also very hot in UAE and i can understand the pain in cooking while it's so hot.. Have a happy weekend:)

  22. Love the colour of the coasters

  23. Very pretty work! I feel the same way about making coasters and biscornu. To use a biscornu as a pin cushion is just not a way to treat a treasure. same with a coaster and using it for a dripping cup.

  24. Beautiful projects. Love the bright colors!

  25. wow...beautiful blue jacket progress...

  26. The coasters are very pretty, Preeti. I have ended up making glass cosies instead of coasters. It is supposed to be nearly 100F here which is unusual near Portland, OR. I'm glad we both have air-conditioning! :) xx
